Stuck in the River

On the 31th of November another big storm that came down during the night, 63mm was measured. So far we really had good rains and all the rivers and small streams are flowing which is good for the bush but not always easy for the research drives going out.

One morning, Alex (one of the staff members) was on research drive and miscalculated the river that he should cross. When he drove into the river the vehicle sunk into the sand and the vehicle got stuck in the soft sand. He first tried to push the vehicle out with volunteers pushing from the front but didn’t succeed. He then called me (a staff member on drive) and I came and tried to push him out as well, no luck. Eventually one of the game drives came pass with his Land drover and they towed the truck out of the river. I still didn’t want to believe it but a Land drover's got more power than a Hilux.
