Giraffe and Elephant interaction on Zimanga

On research drive recently we pulled up to a young bull elephant (Loxodonta africana) feeding on the side of the main road on Zimanga when a giraffe (Giraffa camelopardus) casually stepped out onto the road, stared the elephant down and before walking across towards the other side.

The elephant obviously did not appreciate this and without any notice, charged the giraffe! The giraffe ran away and the elephant realized the GVI vehicle was not such an easy target. He relaxed immediately and carried on feeding as if nothing ever happened.

Keep your eyes on the blog for more updates and interesting sightings!
