The King and Queen of Zimanga

When out on normal game drive, you always hope for something a little special and out of the ordinary to make it just that bit more memorable. When getting signal for the Cheetahs, Scarlet and Kalahari, it came to our attention that their signals were coming from the same direction. What some people have been waiting well over six months to see finally came true when we found the two of them together. In one of the furthest and quietest parts of Zimanga we found the two of them sitting quietly on the top of a hill. Kalahari now quite an old man, still looked all that he is and more as he sat like a King next to Scarlet. She sat beside him looking out over the view and every so often glancing across to him looking quite the Queen and lady. When he got up to move around she purred at him, plus a few chirps, but also a very mild scuffle between the two of them. It is a very rare opportunity to see cheetahs together when they are courting let alone showing signs that they are going to actual mate. But as night time came over we thought it best so leave them to it, as we couldn’t really see much anyway.

Let’s hope that in a few months there will be some new additions to the reserve.
