Earth Day at Zimanga

The staff and volunteers at Zimanga decided to celebrate Earth Day by planting a tree and going without electricity for a few hours.

Our chosen sapling was the indigenous White Stinkwood Tree (Celtis africana). We all took part in the preparation and planting of the sapling.

In addition to this volunteers came back from drive to find themselves without electricity and the use of light. Their evening feast was made and eaten by candle light. This may have been a small sacrifice, but it leaves 12 more individuals with a greater awareness of our impact on the environment.
