Possiblilties of a Karongwe Drive
We have just returned from another amazing research drive.
We had only been on the road 10 minutes before we came across two giraffe at the waters edge. This was the first time I had witnessed them drinking. It was truly amazing how they spread their legs wide to enable their long graceful necks to reach the water. It looks almost comical but dignified too.
Later we went to see the elephants. We first heard the crashing of trees as we waited in anticipation for them to appear. Suddenly, as if from nowhere, we had the whole herd around us. We quickly had to manoeuvre the vehicle as they headed straight for us, ears flapping and trunks in the air, a typical warning sign.
The baby elephant were my favourites as he mimicked his mum with the warning signs. We observed from a safe distance before leaving them to enjoy their supper as they moved gently through the African bush.
I can’t wait for tomorrow so we can do it all again!
