The First Rains
The morning of 14th November 2009 was quite different from the other mornings. When my alarm went of at 4h30 it sounded like the heavens had open up. The rain was coming down hard with lightning every where.
At 9h00 it was still raining and we drove the volunteers in the minibus to show them how the rivers came down. The 4 main rivers were flowing again full stream and even smaller drainages had water in as well.
A few days after the rain one can see the first green grasses pushing thru the soil and the trees are showing there first leaves. One knows summer is officially here when you see the first impala (Eesyceros melampus) lambs.
