Amazing 2 Weeks!

Our 2 week expedition was exiting with quite a few good sightings. We made a few changes to the normal research schedule and did a few night focus drives. That caused some excitement for the volunteers, due to the fact that lions become more active at night time, we saw lots of interesting behaviour. Our pride of lions (Panthera leo) made a waterbuck kill in the morning and strange enough the cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) was also in the same area. The next afternoon we found the cheetah on a impala kill, and they allowed us to watch them feed.We had all round good sightings of spotted hyena(Crocuta crocuta), brown hyena(Hyaena brunnea), black backed jackal(Canis mesomelas), bat eared foxes(Otocyon megalotis) caracal(Felis caracal) and African wildcat(Felis lybica). We did alot of birding, bush walks and visited the Khoi San painting and world heritage sight in Mapungubwe National Park. A big thank you to John Power a freelance guide who had all the volunteers in giggles permanently for helping us out in the two week expedition.
