Sleepless nights with baboons....

For the last couple of weeks we have all been struggling to sleep.... a troop of about 100 Chacma Baboons (Papio cynocephalus ursinus)have decided Safari Camp is now their very own Bed and Breakfast.

Volunteers leaving on morning drive woke them up and so did every other movement in or around camp. Screaming babies, fights within the family and alarm calling males made it a bit difficult to have a proper nights sleep.

They did provide us with a few laughs along the way and decided to move on to some other sleeping arrangements. We do already miss them.. when the baboons leave the naughty vervet monkeys (Ceropithecus pygerythus) are boss!!
