Hluhluwe-imfolozi Park

Hluhluwe-imfolozi Park was exiting as always but nothing prepared us for what we were about to see......

One of those days of driving for hours without seeing any animals, we wondered if it was something that we have done to scare the animals away or perhaps we chose the wrong day to visit the park.

Just before closing time the real action started, after watching two male giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalus) fighing we looked up and on the road walking towards the vehicle was a pack of 17 wild dogs (Lycaon pictus).

A sight I will never forget. For the conservation status of these painted dogs to be endangered and seeing a large pack like this successfully functioning on conservation land is a blessing.

After they attempted to take on a journey of giraffe and a herd of blue wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus) the pack finally disappered over the edge chasing after impala (Aepyceros melampus)

Another great volunteer experience.
