The Karongwe Cup, 2010

The Olympics have finally come to South Africa! And are being held at Karongwe Game Reserve. The opening Ceremony started in the front garden with a display of the medals (bottle caps on string) and the winning cup (made of tin foil and toilet roll tubes). The first contest was the Wheelbarrow race, with representatives from volunteers and staff. There was no need for a photo finish as the staff raced ahead and took the Gold medal. Day two of the Cup saw a challenging orange and spoon race around the garden. Ducking under the volleyball net and weaving in and out of obstacles, the contestants took the game seriously and some foul play even arose when our Country Director, Mr Peter Bradford, blocked a volunteer from her path. The dishonourable play was overlooked and the staff took Silver, with one of group of volunteers just snatching the Gold. To be continued...
