Excitement at Venetia!

We are all sad to know we have only one week to go before we have to say goodbye to the last of the original wild dogs (Lycaon pictus) at Venetia. We are however glad to be able to contribute to the conservation and the metapopulation in South Africa. Our new group of Volunteers are quite happy to still be able to be apart of the final chapter of these “fairytale creatures”.

We are all anxiously awaiting the next 5 weeks with so many things to look forward too. Darting the wild dogs and moving them of to their new home in Kwa-Zulu Natal, darting the lions(Panthera leo), putting on new high tech collars, and being apart of an exiting new study. Thika (our female lion that recently had a cub) will hopefully introduce her cub to the pride within the next couple of weeks. And we are hoping to see Thika (our female lion that recently had a cub) introduce her cub to the pride and for us to finally get a good view of the cub. Then last but not least Bike 4 Beasts. There is an air of excitement at Venetia!
