Great Large Herbivore Sightings

We've had some brilliant elephant (Loxodonta africana) and white rhino (Ceratotherum simum) sightings this week. Lucky our only male white rhino had been wanting to mate with two of our females but unfortunately for him they haven't been in the same mood! The two females in question both has calves of around 3 years old so when they choose to mate again they will actively push their calves away so they will start their own lives independently.

The elephants have been very relaxed, eating from trees next to the vehicles as we quietly watch. It is so lovely to watch the youngest elephant calf, who is now just over a year old, get frustrated over not having full control over his trunk. But then its not suprising it takes them around 7 years to get full control over their trunk as it contains almost 150,000 muscles!
